oil on canvas, 100x60cm, 2025, Edinburgh
Antique stalls have always been captivating to me. This painting tells a story about a moment glimpsed from a shop’s table from an Edinburgh antique market, where porcelain figurines of nobles and horses, trinket boxes, a black pipe, and fine Chinoiserie plates and bowls are piled together, forming a rich, wine-tinted moment with patterns, resonating the stories painted on the historical Chinoiserie porcelain objects. At the centre is placed a male baby doll, serene and calm, bringing to mind the infant Jesus, being cradled by these historical objects along with their century-old memories.
